About Us
While living in Mexico, Susan Warren visited
the village of Santa Clara del Cobre many times and became completely
enamored with the work of the artisans in the village. Having
a background in metal smithing, she recognized the incredible
skill involved in the process of creating a work of hammered
copper and was awestruck by the inherent beauty of the pieces.
Wanting to maintain her connection with Mexico and promote this
incredible craft, she moved back to Tucson, Arizona in the summer
of 2001 and started Artesano Copper Imports.

Artesano is primarily a wholesale
business that focuses on selling to shops and galleries around
the United States. Currently we sell to museum gift stores,
Native American galleries, Mexican import shops, jewelers, craft
galleries, furniture shops, southwest design gift shops, home
and bath showrooms, among others.
We are dedicated to promoting the craft of
hammered copper and to enhancing the lives of the individual
artisans. We pay the artisans a fair price for their work, and
we also provide tools and materials to assist them in the creation
of their pieces. For our customers, we provide biographical
information and a photo of each artisan, brochures that summarize
the history and process of the craft, and additional educational
materials.
Artesano Copper Imports continues
to be primarily a one-woman business. Susan is occasionally
assisted by her daughter, Zoe, and other friendly part-time
employees.
